Rooted in Community, Rising Together: Celebrating Black History & Building Futures

Mahogany Mothers Circle Newsletter - February 28th, 2025

Dear Mahogany Mothers Circle Community,

It brings me immense joy to be part of such a thriving birth worker community here at Mahogany Mothers Circle. For over 5 years, I've had the honor of being a member of the Sacred Seeds Birth worker Collective. Together, we form a network of birth workers across Colorado, united in our goal to advance black maternal healthcare by supporting our families in a community-centered approach. Coming back to Colorado after college to serve my home community has truly been a dream come true for me. I firmly believe that change begins at home, and through my journey as a mother to my wonderful children, coupled with professional training, I strive to embed my service in supporting organizations that uplift our communities. This includes my newest role as an Associate Board member with the Boys and Girls Club.

I cannot wait!!

Why is this relevant? It's crucial for people to understand that doulas and birth workers are inherently family-centered. We are not just caregivers during childbirth; we are advocates, educators, and supporters who ensure that families receive holistic care that extends beyond medical needs. Our role is to empower families to make informed decisions and navigate their unique birthing journeys with confidence and dignity.

In March, I look forward to sharing more about my additional community associations and how we can all get involved in supporting the Boys and Girls Club. Stay tuned for updates on how you can contribute to this impactful organization.

Partnership Highlight: Urban Adventures

We are thrilled to partner with Urban Adventures, a local organization dedicated to enriching children's lives through experiential learning in urban environments. Recently, we had a delightful field trip to Natural Grocers, where our little ones had the opportunity to explore and learn about healthy grocery choices alongside our Nutritional Health Coach, Chantelle. A huge shout-out to Chantelle for tailoring this experience to meet the needs of our community! You can schedule your own free grocery experience or nutrition coaching session by clicking this link for more information.

Please excuse the funny face. Promise he had a good time. lol

Self Awareness Workshop Series Update

We are halfway through our self-awareness workshop series! Despite recent inclement weather, Mahogany Mothers Circle seamlessly transitioned our sessions to Zoom to ensure everyone could participate safely. With permission, we have recorded the sessions and made them available on our YouTube channel. I invite you all to like, subscribe, and follow our journey as we delve deeper into personal growth and empowerment.

We’ve were doing a self-discovery exercise.
