Fuel, Flow, Flourish: Supporting Families and Ourselves
With the right support, challenges become triumphs.
Reflections on the 75 Soft Challenge
I started the 75 Soft Challenge last year during a time when the “75 Hard Challenge” trend was everywhere. I considered jumping in, but then I realized that pushing myself to extremes has always been part of my nature. After having four children and navigating life with my temperament, I recognized that this fall-to-winter season, what I truly wanted was to slow down and practice grace with myself.
That’s when the 75 Soft Challenge was born. It’s not about perfection or punishment—it’s about cultivating self-care, mindfulness, and intentional growth. I’ve found it to be a practice I can not only benefit from but also encourage other mothers to embrace. The era of the “martyr mom” has to end. This doesn’t mean we slide into apathy; it means we approach our lives and responsibilities with balance, compassion, and intentionality.
Now, as we enter our second year, we’re ready to elevate the experience. Challenging myself is still part of who I am, and this challenge is designed to position us for growth into the new year. We’re excited to partner with Matrescence, Yoga Daze, and @OhHeyDiamond to bring you a full season of opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration.
Some highlights to look forward to: a retreat for our committed participants, a kickoff and midway dinner and workshop at Natural Grocers, and community-building experiences along the way.

Training Spotlight
Postpartum Support International’s Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care![]() | Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care training with Postpartum Support International. The session was packed with valuable resources and strategies to support families navigating perinatal mental health challenges. One of my favorite parts, as always, was connecting with fellow birth work professionals and sharing insights. The biggest takeaway for me was discovering that there are resources available that can directly support families—without barriers—helping them feel empowered and confident as they navigate parenthood. A personal note: One day I hope to share more about my own journey. I faced severe challenges during all of my pregnancies, so I understand firsthand how crucial it is to have a team that listens, remains non-judgmental, and provides support that empowers the family. You really can overcome these challenges! That’s exactly what we believe at Mahogany Mothers Circle. Through my experiences and the stories of the families I’ve supported, I’ve seen time and time again that resilience and healing are possible. |
